Koos is a director and experienced Corporate and Commercial Law practitioner at Barnard Inc. He specialises in company law, law of insolvency, business rescue, restructure, and other corporate legal matters from inception to conclusion, including any litigation, which may arise in respect of such matters.
Koos has acted for a diverse range of corporate clients and has also provided legal services to financial institutions and large retail operations. The focus of his practise ranges from individuals to large corporate entities.
Koos obtained his Baccalareus Legum (LLB) and Magister Legum (LLM) degrees from the University of Pretoria in 2004 and 2006 respectively. He was admitted as an Attorney of the High Court of South Africa in 2008.
Since then, Koos has received a Certificate (Cum Laude) for Business Rescue Practitioner from the University of South Africa (2013) and a Certificate for B-BEEE Management Development Programme (Cum Laude) from the University of the Witwatersrand (2015).
Koos was recognised by Best Lawyer in 2021 and 2022 for his exceptional work in the field mergers and acquisitions and the awards are a well-deserved accolade for his contribution to the legal profession.
Koos has broadened his horizon with the network build through the international alliance formed by Barnard Inc with International Commercial Law Alliance (ICLA) and has assisted international clients with legal matters and transactions in South Africa and abroad.
Koos has recently ventured into the field international trade and forex, the agreements relating to these complex transactions and escrow services.
The specialisation in new fields of international law and international transactions will make him a valuable ally to any business that wishes to expand its business to foreign jurisdictions.
